Evening and weekend sessions available.
Hello,
My name is Elizabeth Garcia, and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for twelve years. My journey began in a partial hospitalization clinic where I worked with individuals experiencing severe mental illness. This valuable experience allowed my skills to develop quickly and laid the foundation for my current practice.
Now, in private practice, I have become a therapist skilled in counseling various populations, both in individual and group settings. My areas of focus include:
Depression
Anxiety
Adoptions
Grief and loss
Chronic pain and more
With the following populations:
Children
Adolescents
Adults
Severely mentally ill individuals
Active duty servicemen and veterans
As an existentialist, I draw from several therapeutic theories, including:
Reality Theory
Person-Centered Theory
Cognitive Behavioral Theory
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
The methods I employ are varied and tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. Some of the techniques I use include:
Art therapy techniques
Music therapy techniques
Mindfulness practices
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Biblical references where appropriate
I always consider the individual and their circumstances at the moment, ensuring that my approach is relevant and supportive, especially with military members and their families.
My most common phrases with clients are "talk to me", "what is going on in your world?", and "I will virtually hold your hand when you need me to, but I will virtually boot you forward when you need me to also". These invite open dialogue and help foster a therapeutic connection. See you in session!
